Buyer Beware
Resolved: Issues with entire experience
I worked at EBTH and have been a buyer in the past (never again!). The shipping is beyond outlandish..
plus lots of unethical things happening at various levels. They sold my friend a silver plated piece by listing it as sterling silver (fraudulently), so he paid far more than he should have. When he tried to resolve it, he was told it was “too late” and there was “nothing they could do”. I was personally uneasy with being employed by an unscrupulous company and left earlier this year.
Be aware: Upper management does not care one iota about the ongoing issues with shipping / service / fraudulent descriptions / poor condition of items. They just want to turn a profit (“billions” according to a local news article.. lolz). They want it to be “like Amazon” according to upper brass - but only in the sense that employees are treated like garbage and tracked/timed to the second.
Believe me, they’d rather spend money to GPS-track their staff than, say...
figure out how to combine several small items from one order into a single shipping box. But hey, that must be rocket science, amiright?
- Fraudulent listings and outrageous shipping

My two Chandelier purchase fell through
I purchased 2 chandelier on May 16 from an estate in Florida-was contacted by Megan from ETBH the chandelier had not been taken down by the owners but that would happen shortly and they would crate and ship the items-Her name was Megan and she was no longer handling my sale they were closing EBTH in FL -Max Koehler was handling everything now and to contact him he would be happy to help me -she gave me a number to reach him- I called several times-I think he accidentally picked up one time took my name-said he would get back to me the following week-I haven’t heard from him again-so I contacted customer service-I was told the chandelier had been removed and crated but they were waiting for them to be shipped- then I heard the owners would not let them on the estate-were being difficult-then the owners had moved my chandelier to an undisclosed location-each time I found out this information I had to contact customer service- no follow ups at all from Max Koehler-Think they got tired of me and on June 27th refunded my money-I WAS a very Good customer-No Way to run a business-afraid to buy from them again!!!
- Was ignored unless i contacted them

Deceptive, immoral and liars
Please do not give the folks one cent of your money! They are not careful at listing items accurately and if you do not scrutinize the images, blow them up and look very, VERY carefully, you will buy a useless piece of trash.
They listed a dish as "GOOD" condition but it has a huge chip on it, rendering it completely useless. I made several attempts to get their assistance. Initially, they offered a refund but they became aware that the chip was visible in the one of the posting's photographs, the revoked their offer. I They were unwilling to credit me for the broken item.
It was 100% NOT broken in shipping. They sold me a piece of trash.
BEWARE - poor quality, liars and inept employees
No customer help
Great customer service agent
**BIDDERS & SELLERS BEWARE**
This review is being addressed to the Founder Brian Graves and his Team named below: Mission Statement. Our mission is to be the world's largest and most trusted marketplace for estate sales.
We created this business with the simple notion of providing a transparent and seamless solution for families and individuals looking to sell their collections. I am bringing to the attention of the Founder and Officers of EBTH. Do you have any idea how your business is really being run? Re-read your mission statement!
You are far from being the "most trusted marketplace for estate sales." Then you go on to say, "providing a transparent and seamless solution for families and individuals selling their collections." These are total lies! EBTH is the most untrustworthy and dishonest business in estate sale industry! I have spent quite a bit of money in your auctions but apparently, as a customer, that means nothing to you when a problem arises. I would think your company would try to correct the problem by fixing items that get broken when shipped, replacing missing items (which happens frequently) or returning phone calls.
Then to add insult to the situations, you throw in a gift card for $30 or $50 bucks when I just spend anywhere from $200 to $1000. My first incident was pictures of Marilyn Monroe which I had been waiting to get so I could give as a gift. It was well over a month and I still hadn't received the pictures. I called EBTH customer service, they proceeded to tell me that 2 of the pics were broken while getting ready to ship.
They asked me if I still wanted them in which I said NO. They credited my account for the price of those pictures. I asked them why they hadn't called me to tell me of the problem of the first 2 pictures They had no explanation but said sorry. I had a 3rd Marilyn Monroe picture that was still being shipped.
I waited a few more weeks for the 3rd picture which never arrived, so I called customer service again looking for that picture and after some time on hold, they told me that the picture had been lost. How convenient and coincidental that ALL the Marilyn Monroe pictures weren't available. I was given a credit for them, but I was furious because I was giving these as a gift to my daughter-in-law who is a Marilyn Monroe collector. I never made a complaint or issue of this and figured that things happen.
Little did I know at this point!! My next issue was an auction that I won several items but was unable to pick up the items because I was just getting out of the hospital. I had a trusted friend and fellow EBTH customer pickup my won auction items. The items were gathered up at the auction site and given to my friend.
Things got a little chaotic there due to a lady falling with a glass piece and cutting herself pretty bad. I called my friend asking how things went at the pickup and she told me no problem picking my stuff up and she told me about the lady that got hurt. During our conversation, I mentioned that the cameras I bid on were going to my granddaughter because she was interested in photography. My friend said, what cameras??
I told her that there should have been 2 cameras with additional camera equipment. My friend said those items were not given to her. I asked her if she signed the receipt for the items and she told me no, that she has never signed papers when she picked up items. None of the employees ever presented a sheet for her to sign listing the items that I bought.
To say the least I was upset by this. I called the Project Manager Lucy Ball the very next day and explained the situation. She didn't seem to be too concerned and proceeded to tell me several different stories of what happened to the cameras. It all seemed shady and that someone was covering up a situation where items were possibly stolen.
I was furious because I was told the cameras were there and they were seen by the staff working the auction, including Lucy!! Then why did they disappear? Why wasnt the auction sheet given to my friend to make sure all items were received by my friend? I told Lucy that I felt that someone had possibly stolen them and it could be someone working for EBTH by the different stories that were told to me and run around I was getting from them.
I ended up calling customer service to complain and was stonewalled there as well. I was not satisfied with customer service so I asked to speak to a manager. They would not give me a direct phone number to call or an extension to any manager. All they could do is take a message for someone name Steve and Diane.
Steve was suppose to be a manager for customer service and Diane was some kind of Regional Director. I never received a call back from Diane but I did get a call back from Steve about a week later. I explained the situation and felt that these items were stolen from me. Either by the EBTH employees that worked that auction or the incompetence of the employees not watching to see if things were being stolen by the people coming into these estates.
I had been to several of these estate auction pickups and they would freely let people walk through to pick up their items and then they would not have you sign any paperwork that you were in receipt of the items you won in the auction! Anyone could have picked up anything at anytime but Steve didn't seem to be concerned that these items were missing which I had bid $255.00 for. He didn't seem to think that there might be a problem with employees stealing or quality control watching over sellers cherished items. He said that he would credit the money back to my account and for the inconvenience offered me a $30.00 gift card.
I was furious and insulted!! I wanted the cameras I bid on and won, this was a gift that disappeared again!! He didnt even suggest an investigation or try to find another auction that I could possibly find some other cameras to replace them with. The biggest insult to me was the $30.00 gift card he wanted to give to me.
Why in the world would I take a $30.00 gift card just to put this money back into EBTHs pocket! I told him to keep his card and told him he had possibly lost me as a customer. I has spent ALOT of money with EBTH so I would think he would have taken note of that and help with the situation so he could keep me as a customer. I also thought it shouldnt matter how much I spent with EBTH cause every customer, no matter how much they have spent would be a valued customer.
Steve wasn't going to budge and really didn't seem to care. I told myself that I wasn't going to bid on anything else, but I got sucked in. I really enjoyed shopping at estate sales with EBTH. On the outside, EBTH seems like a great company but truly you are running a deceiving your bidders and sellers.
So, the straw that broke the camel's back was an auction that I won in which I bid on a grandfather clock. I've always wanted one and this one was beautiful. I knew the shipping was going to be expensive but I was willing to pay it as long as the clock came to me the way it was advertised. It took about a month and a half for me to finally receive the clock.
It was packed very well and there was no damage. I then saw that there was another box with it that was very heavy. The other box was all the internal parts of the clock. I was furious!!
When I bid on the clock and won, there was nothing noted that if I won the clock that upon shipping they would be taking the internal components out of the clock to ship it. So now that I have the clock, it was going to cost me another $200-$300 to have it put together again. Like I said, I was furious!! I called customer service and again they would not let me talk to a supervisor or manager, just take a message.
I was referred to Steve again. I left a message with the customer service agent and it took him about a week to call me back about the situation. I explained to him that on their website that what is advertised is what you expect when you pick up an item or have an item shipped. I understand that things can get broken but this was not the case.
Steve said that its the industry standard that the clocks are broken down when they are shipped so they won't get broken. I get that, but nowhere did it say that the clock would be taken apart, shipped to me and it would be my responsibility to get it put back together again. When I bid on something and its described and pictured the way I bought it then that's what I expect when it arrives. That was not the case and we argued this point over and over again.
Argued with me, the valued customer!! He never budged in offering to pay for the clock to be put back together, so now my clock sits in pieces in my living room. What he did offer was a $50.00 gift card!! Can you believe the audacity!!
AGAIN, I WOULD NOT PUT ANOTHER DOLLAR IN THEIR GREEDY LITTLE POCKETS!! I told him to keep his card and probably in a not so nice way. Like I said earlier, that was the final straw. I will never do business with EBTH again!!
They don't value their customers whether you're selling your items or buying auction items. They are careless in handling these treasured items that have been entrusted to them! BRIAN GRAVES, as the Founder along with your Team members should all be ashamed of yourselves in letting your business to get so bad!! Look at all of your reviews, you have so many unhappy customers.
You do nothing to right these situations. It will just be a matter of time that no one will come to your business for their valuable and sentimental items because of how you've treated your customers. Your mission statement says, "most trusted marketplace for estate sales", you don't even come close to living up to your mission statement. Nothing in your mission statement is "transparent and seamless solution for families and individuals looking to sell their collections".
I am encouraging anyone else that had some shady dealings with EBTH to make sure that they put it in these reviews. People need to know what kind of business you're running! Greedy, dishonest, careless, untrustworthy, scam, etc. I'm sure the list can go on!!
Again, to the Founder Brian Graves and Officers of EBTH, I hope I got your attention!!
I would hope that you change your business practice cause right now you're looking like crooks who take advantage of your bidders and sellers!! It's about time you do right by your customers!!!
- Website is very nice but deceiving
- Posting as many negative reviews to expose this company
- Are crooks

Horrible horrible place
I have purchased several items over many years even had them liquidate my entire LA home wasn’t ever greatly satisfied with their rude and sometimes inefficient customer service and thieving shipping prices , but today was the final straw !!! I wasn’t able to pick up two items of very low value because of health reasons and let them know I would get them today, well what do you know today they decided to charge my credit card 53.00 and ship them I asked to them to reverse the charge as I was picking it up today they lied to me and said it was already shipped I know they lied because there wasn’t a tracking number as of yet they have lost a customer and please all be leery of giving them your credit card they will abuse it I told them they could not charge my card and they refused to remove it as a form of payment they are nothing shy of criminals!!!!
Haven’t heard back about my confiscated item I purchased.

This is how they run their business. They're misleading and it needs to stop!
That's what "untested" means "Do not expect it to work"
They'll CONTINUE to do this and Get Away With It, unless we ALL try to stand up for ourselves, along with what's DECENT and RIGHT! I'd suggest your state's or Ohio state's Attorney General!
- - Deceptive business practices!! Also, file a Small Claim - - NO judge is going to side with them, give Ty he facts you've stated!!
